Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Introduction Cardiac rehabilitation program (CRP) is a multidisciplinary intervention tailored to improve functional fitness in different cardiovascular conditions. Patients with reduced left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) are commonly unrepresented hence the impact LVEF on uncertain. Purpose To evaluate changes capacity cohort patients referred CRP, according baseline LVEF. Methods Tertiary-center retrospective analysis an exercise-based phase II CRP. be enrolled had complete 12-weeks CRP and perform symptom-limiting cardiopulmonary exercise test (CPET), at beginning end program. were stratified into (LVEF < 45%) or preserved ≥ group. Four CPET parameters evaluate: peak oxygen uptake (pVO2), predicted-pVO2 (ppVO2), O2 pulse VE/VCO2 slope. Results 127 (mean age 57.8 ± 11.2 years; males 79.5%) eligible for which 86.6% following acute coronary event. included group (38.6%; mean 31% 8.1) more dyslipidemia (48.8% vs 22.8%, p = 0.013), atrial fibrillation (24.5% 7.7%, 0.008) implanted electronic devices defibrillator (30.6% 2.6%, p<0.001). Regarding parameters, lower pVO2 dif 2, 0.048), ppVO2 12.1%, p<0.001) value 0.049) higher values slope 2.9, 0.036). The Weber ARENA classifications revealed similar distribution between groups: 24.4% 27.5% entering low class (C D). Higher (III-IV) 28.5% 14.1% At program, increased by 4% 3.2% (p 0.808), about 0.7 0.5 mL/beat 0.509) reduces 1.7 0.3 0.232). As continuous variable, did not predict Weber´s 0.546) 0.393) changes. Yet, those derived greater improvement after (Δ 10.2 9.8 Δ 2.2 7.9; Conclusions All show irrespective Thus, should denied cardiac significant expected.

association between androgenic hormone levels and left ventricular ejection fraction

background : androgens have been shown to have diverse effects on the cardiovascular system. the aim of this study was to compare androgenic hormone levels in patients with different left ventricular ejection fractions (ef). methods : the study population consisted of 515 consecutive men who were referred for angiographic studies and whose results of echocardiography and coronary angiography we...

Prognosis in patients with low left ventricular ejection fraction after myocardial infarction. Importance of exercise capacity.

The measurement of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) plays a key role in many strategies for managing patients after acute myocardial infarction. We tested the hypothesis that exercise capacity 1 month after myocardial infarction provides additional information in patients with a low LVEF and therefore assists in risk stratification. One hundred fifteen patients, with documented myocard...

Increased Left Ventricular Stiffness Impairs Exercise Capacity in Patients with Heart Failure Symptoms Despite Normal Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction

Aims. Several mechanisms can be involved in the development of exercise intolerance in patients with heart failure despite normal left ventricular ejection fraction (HFNEF) and may include impairment of left ventricular (LV) stiffness. We therefore investigated the influence of LV stiffness, determined by pressure-volume loop analysis obtained by conductance catheterization, on exercise capacit...

Left Ventricular Volumes and Ejection Fraction

Left ventricular end-diastolic and end-systolic volume, stroke volume, and ejection fraction were determined by biplane angiocardiography and echocardiography in 27 patients suspected of having heart disease. Angiographic volumes were calculated by the area-length method and echocardiographic volumes, from the left ventricular dimension of the echograms. The angiographic minor diameter and the ...

Impact of Atrial Fibrillation on Exercise Capacity and Mortality in Heart Failure With Preserved Ejection Fraction: Insights From Cardiopulmonary Stress Testing

BACKGROUND Atrial fibrillation (AF) has been objectively associated with exercise intolerance in patients with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction; however, its impact in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction has not been fully scrutinized. METHODS AND RESULTS We identified 1744 patients with heart failure and ejection fraction ≥50% referred for cardiopulmonary...
